The Quantum of the Seas will stay in Asia this summer, rather than move to Alaska, where it was scheduled to operate.

Royal Caribbean International said the ship, currently sailing short cruises from Singapore, would stay in the Asia-Pacific region for the 2021 summer season. The Quantum had been Asia-based prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, sailing from Singapore and Tianjin, China.

The Quantum had been set to offer seven-day cruises from Seattle along with three other Royal Caribbean ships sailing in Alaska this year: the Ovation, Radiance and Serenade of the Seas, based in Seattle, Vancouver and Seward, Alaska, respectively.

Royal says the ship is still expected to sail in Alaska in summer 2022.
