During an August 2020 drydock, Silversea Cruises will strengthen the Silver Wind's hull for polar cruising.

The ship will get a strengthened ice-class hull, state-of-the-art equipment for cruising in remote regions, and a fleet of Zodiacs and kayaks for on-water exploration.

In addition, Silversea will upgrade the theater and all suites, refurbish the spa and salon, overhaul the reception and atrium area and improve the La Dame and La Terrazza restaurants as well as the Main Bar, the Observation Lounge, Panorama Lounge and pool bar.

Double occupancy capacity will be reduced to 254 guests.

"We are delighted to announce that the Silver Wind will undergo a further extensive refurbishment in the summer of 2020, completing the enhancements made in December 2018," said Roberto Martinoli, Silversea's CEO. "Evolving the ship into an ice-class vessel, complete with Zodiacs and kayaks, will diversify her offering for our guests."
