The Westerdam, turned away by Japan, to disembark in Thailand

|

Holland America’s Westerdam, a ship that Japan turned away last week due to coronavirus fears, will end its current cruise in Thailand instead of Japan.

The Westerdam will disembark in Laem Chabang, Thailand, on Feb. 13. From there, guests will transfer to Bangkok for their travel home.

The cruise was previously scheduled to disembark on Feb. 15 in Yokohama, Japan. The ship was scheduled to make several calls in Japan but could not do so because the government forbade the ship from docking in any Japanese ports. All guests will receive a 100% refund for the 14-day sailing and a 100% future cruise credit.

Holland America canceled the cruise that had been scheduled to depart Yokohama, Japan, on Feb. 15. The line hasn’t made any further cancellations, but said it is “assessing the impact of current port restrictions in Asia on cruises departing Feb. 29 or later.”
