Maupintour offers two Egypt tours with BA

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Maupintour introduced two Egypt tours, in cooperation with British Airways.

Each Maupintour Egypt tour carries with it an Egyptologist tour manager who accompanies the group throughout the trip, offering insights into Egyptian culture and history while handling all accommodations. It also includes most meal arrangements, transportation, luggage handling, sightseeing and tipping.

The longer of the tours is the 15-night Egypt & the Nile program, including a six-night river cruise aboard the deluxe Oberoi Philae, priced from $4,500 per person, double. The price includes roundtrip air from New York via London. Departures are scheduled monthly, except for April and August.

Tour members will spend five nights in Cairo and two nights in Alexandria, before flying to Luxor. There they will board the Nile cruise, which includes visits to Dendera; the Valley of the Kings and Queen, as well as Karnak in Luxor; Edfu; Kom Ombo, and Abu Simbel. Travelers will overnight in Aswan before returning to Cairo for a farewell dinner.

In addition to international and domestic air, the tour cost includes deluxe hotel accommodations (both Mena House and Conrad International in Cairo) and 37 meals, as well as such special features as a camel ride to the pyramids.

A shorter eight-night tour includes a four-night Nile cruise aboard the Nile Beauty, as well as three nights in Cairo at the start of the trip and one night at the end.

Priced from $2,985 per person, double, the tour includes air from New York and domestic flights, cruise, top hotels and extensive sightseeing.
