Myrtle Beach making waves in group market

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Myrtle Beach area ranked No. 4 on a list of 50 of the most popular motorcoach destinations of the last decade, according to Byways magazine.

The bimonthly publication of the National Motorcoach Network reaches more than 10,000 motorcoach travel planners, according to the publication.

The publication's top three motorcoach destinations of the 1990s were Branson, Mo.; Washington; and Nashville. New York was No. 5.

Known as the Grand Strand for its 60-mile stretch of coastline, the Myrtle Beach area welcomes 14 million visitors a year to its beaches and 120 golf courses as well as to its amusement parks, shopping and cultural and historical sites.

Several properties on Myrtle Beach's Grand Strand are popular with groups and motorcoach tour companies.
