Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants marked the opening of the new Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester, England, Oct. 1.
Formerly the Refuge Assurance Co. headquarters, the building dates to 1890 and features, as its name implies, a clocktower at its center.
All 270 loft-style guestrooms, including 11 suites, feature double- and triple-height ceilings, with such original Victorian-era touches as glazed bricks, tiles, stained glass and carved wooden staircases.
Guestrooms showcase the city's musical heritage with vinyl records of famous bands from the area.
Drinks and dining are available at the Winter Garden, and the Refuge by Volta serves small plates, craft beers and cocktails.
This expansion marks the brand's fourth property in the United Kingdom, along with the Kimpton Fitzroy London; the Kimpton Blythswood Square in Glasgow, Scotland; and the Kimpton Charlotte Square in Edinburgh, Scotland.
