Munich's airport to open massive new terminal in April

Munich Airport is gearing up to unveil the new Terminal 1 Pier on April 13. the facility is scheduled to start welcoming passengers on April 21.

The T1 building, one of Bavaria's largest infrastructure projects, will provide additional capacity for up to 6 million passengers per year.

It covers a total area of around 300,000 square feet, including an area in the current Arrivals Module B of Terminal 1.

The new pier can handle up to 12 short- and medium-haul aircraft or six wide-body aircraft at the same time on a total of six levels.

Three levels will be dedicated to passenger processes, including centralized security checks with CT technology, waiting areas, commercial spaces for retail and dining, and relaxation and recreation zones.

Other amenities will include two lounges: The approximately 1,400-square-foot Airport Lounge World, with views of the Alps, and the 3,000-square-foot Emirates lounge.
