Off the Big Island of Hawaii, Mokuola, also known as Coconut Island, is closed until further notice after the popular pedestrian bridge leading to it collapsed.
The island, which is within walking distance from Hilo hotels, is a favorite among locals and visitors for its grassy picnic and swimming areas.
The collapse happened this month as a mini-excavator was crossing the bridge.
"The cause of the collapse is under investigation, and the public is asked to avoid the area for their safety," a Hawaii County news release said.
