Starwood Vacation Ownership, the recently announced spinoff of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, has announced plans to develop a 390-villa timeshare property on Maui’s Kaanapali Beach.
Scheduled to open in 2017, the property will be called the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas and be located next door to the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas.
The new development will include a full-service restaurant and beach bar, both offering a range of locally inspired cuisine, along with a 10,000-square-foot, lagoon-style pool and an activity schedule featuring a range of Hawaiian cultural experiences.
“By working closely with Hawaiian cultural experts on the resort’s design and offerings, we will provide a truly authentic experience that celebrates the island’s rich history and traditions,” Steve Williams, Starwood Vacation Ownership’s CEO, said in a statement.
The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas will also pursue the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for high-performance buildings, according to Starwood officials.
