Abercrombie & Kent founder Geoffrey Kent has spent his career developing over-the-top adventures to far-flung locales.
But, like most globetrotters, the 2020 pandemic forced him to rethink some of his travel planning.
The result: his first personally hosted private jet tour in the U.S. The American West by Private Air is a 12-day journey from California wineries to four of the West's national parks.
While offering pandemic-leery Americans a closer-to-home option, the trip doesn't skimp on the exclusive, private experiences that are a hallmark of the private jet journeys personally hosted by Kent each year.
"My Inspiring Expeditions have taken me to explore the heart of every continent -- except North America," Kent said in announcing the new trip, scheduled to depart on June 12. "So, I worked with A&K's team of experts in the U.S. to develop an itinerary that's never been done before, filled with outdoor adventures and thrilling helicopter flightseeing; access to sites not normally open to the public and the region's best winemakers; and days capped off with Michelin-starred meals and the most luxurious accommodations."

The trip begins with a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge and along scenic Coastal Highway 1 in a vintage sports car, then moves to the Napa Valley, where some of the regions most acclaimed wineries will be opened exclusively for A&K for private wine tastings and food pairings.
Before heading to the Grand Canyon and Arches National Park, guests will visit George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch Retreat, where they will be able to view his private art collection.
And, of course, what trip with Kent would be complete without a safari element. The itinerary includes stops across what Kent describes as the "Serengeti of North America," with game drives, hikes, even a flightseeing excursion over the Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks.
"Few Americans realize that Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks form the last large, nearly intact ecosystem in the United States, with more wildlife than anywhere else in the lower 48 states: moose, elk, wolves, grizzly bears and the nation's largest public herd of bison," said Kent. "And you can't truly understand the scale of the vast landscapes until you see them from the air."
The trip will carry no more than 22 guests, who will be broken into smaller groups on the ground. Prices start at $125,000 per person.
Corrected: The price for the American West by Private Air tour is $125,000. A zero was inadvertently omitted from the original report.
