2020 is a year of eco-consciousness, and two resorts on Cozumel are taking their efforts to the next level.

Allegro Cozumel and Occidental Cozumel have banned the use, marketing and distribution of single-use plastic products. The island-wide initiative includes the elimination of plastic straws and utensils, disposable plastic bags to carry out goods in restaurants, supermarkets, drugstores, and beyond. Both resorts are Green Globe-certified.

This year the hotels will also unveil in-room QR code displays linking to their daily activities program, to reduce paper usage; new water dispensers so guests can refill reusable water bottles; and will switch from plastic card keys to electronic wristbands.
