Last month, a year after the debut of the highly anticipated Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos, Palace Resorts unwrapped the finishing touches on a multimillion-dollar renovation of Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun, its flagship property.
"Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun has consistently been rated among the top hotels in Cancun," said Kathy Halpern, vice president of global marketing for Palace Resorts. "To make sure the resort maintains this prestige as a brand, it was important for use to invest in updating the property not just from a design and aesthetic standpoint but also to ensure that our offerings, amenities and accommodations are up to par with the latest luxury offerings in the industry."
Le Blanc Cancun closed for renovation in June 2018. The new lobby offers a modern and elegant feel designed to make a first impression as a grand space and a nod to the era of lobbies as urban meeting places. The space features a variety of seating areas for gatherings and cocktails, each with views of the ocean. Highlights include marble floors and brown and onyx granite decor.
The 260 rooms were completely redesigned with a neutral palette and plush furnishings. Most suites have ocean views, while others face the Nichupte lagoon. Each suite has French-style balconies, living spaces, a king or two standard double beds with memory foam mattresses and bathrooms with rainfall showerheads and body jets.
Another highlight of the redesigned property is a selection of new restaurants as well as updates to a few fan favorites. Blanc, once an international restaurant, has been transformed into a Mexican fine dining experience. Lumiere, the resort's signature restaurant, has a new menu focusing on ingredients like escargot, duck and foie gras. Yama is a new dining experience featuring modern Japanese cuisine. Also new is Bell, which features Italian food designed in collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Giuseppe Iannotti.
For those looking for music and nightlife, Cava is a lounge space offering live music, a DJ, cocktails, pool tables and flat-screen TVs.
"While Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos is the new luxury kid on the block in Los Cabos, our renovations at the Cancun property stemmed more from the fact that it was time for a refresher," Halpern said. "For us as a brand, it's important to keep our property up to date with the latest offerings, amenities and unique details travelers are looking for. Whether it's crafted cocktails and mixology classes or the latest in wellness or even the diversity in high-end culinary offerings, we wanted to ensure we meet every guest's demand."
