After offering solo-travel "Me-Moon" experiences at Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, last year, Velas Resorts is now expanding the packages to Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Velas Vallarta and Mar del Cabo.
"Me-Moon" is a new term for solo travel with an element of celebrating oneself, much like a honeymoon after a wedding or a "babymoon" before the arrival of a newborn.
The packages vary by destination. At Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, the "Me-Moon" experience is presented as an all-inclusive retreat with private VIP airport transfers, aromatherapy, in-suite breakfast service with personalized nutrition, and wellness programming such as hydrotherapy, yoga, mandala workshops and sound healing.
Upon request, guests can explore beyond the property to Marietas Islands, a Unesco-protected archipelago, and swim through a sea cave to reach Playa del Amor. Other excursions include a nightlife tour, an art tour and an adventure experience. Packages start at $3,690 for three nights.
At Velas Vallarta, the all-inclusive package includes round-trip ground transfers, a 55-minute aromatherapy treatment in the spa or on the oceanfront jetty, a dedicated photoshoot of the guest and an excursion into the jungle for zip lines, tequila tasting and crossing the Jorullo Bridge. Guests are also given flexible check-in and check-out times. Packages start at $1,497 for three nights.
At Mar del Cabo, guests build their own "Me-Moon" experience. Accommodations range from a balcony oceanview suite with a private terrace to a partial oceanview room with an outdoor hammock.
Guests are encouraged to select activities from an à la carte offering with options including morning suite service with a basket of fresh sourdough conchas and a pot of cafe de olla; a farm-to-table cooking class with local seafood and seasonal vegetables; a signature massage on the beach; a private tequila, mezcal or craft beer tasting; a sunset picnic; a table-for-one dinner designed by chef Oscar Morales, featuring authentic flavors of Baja California; and a pasta and painting experience.
Excursions include a curated day in San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas. Packages start at $499 for one night.
