NEW YORK -- Travel Weekly on Monday won three Eddie awards,
which are presented by Folio magazine for excellence in journalism.
Folio awarded Travel Weekly an Eddie in the business-to-business
category "Single Article, Travel" for "Group Think," a
staff-written report on trends in the large-group and affinity travel market.
News editor Johanna Jainchill and senior editors Michelle Baran, Jamie Biesiada
and Tom Stieghorst reported the story.
Travel Weekly also took home the Eddie in the "Video"
category for "Pico Iyer's Kyoto," a look at the destination through
the eyes of the award-winning writer, filmed by documentarian Mark Wexler.
And Arnie Weissmann, Travel Weekly's editor in chief, won an
award for his weekly "From the Window Seat" column in the "B-to-B
Column/Blog, Travel and Transportation" category.
Travel Weekly was a finalist in three other
business-to-business categories: "Full Issue, Travel" for its Aug.
17, 2015 issue; "Series of Articles, Travel" for its Masters Series;
and "Website" for TravelWeekly.com.
Travel Weekly was also a finalist for two Ozzie awards,
which recognize achievement in publishing design: "It's All About Me"
for best use of illustration in a B-to-B publication, and "A Walk through
Japan" for best use of photography in a B-to-B publication.
Two other Northstar Travel Group publications were
recognized. Meetings & Conventions was a finalist for its June 2015 issue,
its "Playing Politics" article, its M&C Digital Edition and the "Forecast
2016" cover.
Successful Meetings was a finalist for its "Coping with
Merger Mania" and "Embrace Disruption."
Folio is a media company that covers the magazine publishing
industry both online and in print. The Eddies and the Ozzies were awarded
during a luncheon held at the New York Hilton Midtown as part of the annual
Folio Show.
