The Alaska Railroad is now taking reservations for several fall event trains. Trips spotlight family-friendly activities, cultural events, local breweries and more.
Upcoming excursions include:
• Fairbanks Family Fun Train, a 2.5-hour train ride with children's games, activities and snacks plus scenic fall views (10 a.m. and 3 p.m. departures on Friday, Sept. 28).
• HooDoo Choo Choo, a roundtrip, Fairbanks-Nenana outing that includes six half-pints of HooDoo Brewing Co. beers, light fare from Lavelle's Bistro and a commemorative beer glass (4 p.m. departure on Saturday, Sept. 29).
• Seward Music & Arts Festival Train, an overnight Anchorage-to-Seward roundtrip that bundles festival entrance, free shuttle service in Seward, and onboard entertainment (8 a.m. departure on Saturday, Oct. 6, returning at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7).
• Great Alaska Beer Train, a roundtrip excursion between Anchorage and Portage that spotlights regional craft beers and seasonal bites from Glacier Brewhouse (4 p.m. departure on Saturday, Oct. 6).
• Kid's Halloween Train, a 2.5-hour roundtrip from Anchorage with an onboard magician, crafts, Halloween-themed bingo, balloon animals, a coloring contest and other activities (10 a.m. and 3 p.m. departures on Saturday, Oct. 27).
