Theme parks at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif., will reopen April 30 after being closed for more than a year.
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will reopen with limited capacity, Disney said Wednesday, and only California residents will be permitted to visit per state guidelines. Guests will have to make reservations to enter the theme parks.
Enhanced health and safety measures will be in place, including mandatory face coverings for those two and up.
Disney said hotels at the Disneyland Resort will be reopened in a phased manner. Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will reopen, also with limited capacity, on April 29. The Disney Vacation Club Villas at the Grand California are planned to reopen May 2. The Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier will reopen at a later date.
Disney's limited-ticket event, A Touch of Disney, will continue as planned through April 19.
Characters will return to the parks, but in socially distanced ways, like waving from the train station at Disneyland.
Like Walt Disney World in Orlando, Disneyland has put a hold on experiences like fireworks and parades that draw large crowds.
