Harry Reid Airport in Las Vegas is helping hearing-impaired travelers with free, on-demand American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation through an app while at the airport.
The Aira ASL app connects travelers with certified ASL interpreters through live video calls directly from their smartphones. The service will help ensure clear communication during check-in, security screening and while navigating the terminal, airport officials said.

The pilot program, launched for the 2025 DeafNation World Expo & Conference earlier this month in Las Vegas, is also offered at Henderson Executive Airport and North Las Vegas Airport.
"Harry Reid Airport is committed to ensuring every traveler feels welcome and supported throughout their journey," said Rosemary Vassiliadis, director of aviation.
She said the service expands the airport's resources for passengers, which includes tools such as the Aira Explorer app, which helps travelers who are blind or have very limited vision, and the MagnusCards app, which helps guide travelers with cognitive disabilities through airport procedures.
Travelers are encouraged to download the Aira ASL app before their arrival or upon reaching the airport. Got to the Aira website for more information.
