The Ikona Hotel has opened its doors, the second of three boutique properties that will be part of Fort Lauderdale Beach's Gzella Collection.
The 24-room hotel sits along the Intracoastal Waterway on Bayshore Drive in the former Shell Motel building.
The Ikona opened after a multimillion renovation that both restored and modernized the mid-20th century, three-story building, according to the developers. It features a private pool and a manicured courtyard garden as well as custom-made furnishings.
The Ikona's opening followed the debut of a sister property, the Fortuna Hotel, in April in the city's former Seaside Motel building. Two pools highlight the amenities at the 35-room lodge.
Gzella will open its third Fort Lauderdale Beach lodge, the Mira Hotel, in 2017 in the former Martindale Motel building. Like the Ikona, it will be located on Bayshore Drive.
Gzella Collection is owned by Polish entrepreneur Miroslav Gzella. Visit the collection's website for more information.
