The city of Las Vegas unveiled its first new logo since
1979, to be used on all signs, media, and promotional materials marketing the
city. The city includes the downtown area but not the Strip, which is in Clark County.
Sin City officials apparently believe that the new logo will
be around for just as long as the former one. David Riggleman, communications
director for the city of Las Vegas, said it would “set the stage for the next
40 years.”
The logo was designed by Victoria Hart, creative director of
Pink Kitty Creative, a local graphic design firm, with a design the city
requested to be “iconic, timeless, progressive, modern, fresh and exciting with
a nod to the glamorous era of yesterday.”
The new logo will also be used on city workwear, vehicles,
and online and digital media, promoting the city as a great place to “live,
work and play.”
The city does not plan to eliminate items containing the old
logo, but as items are replaced they will reflect the new look.
