A new small-group tour from Seward-based Liquid Adventures will connect kayakers to scenic stretches of remote Kenai Fjords coastline, starting this summer.
On the company's Aialik/Northwestern Explorer day trip, groups use a custom-built catamaran to travel to either Aialik Bay or the Northwestern Fjord, depending on conditions and visitor interest. From there, guests might view calving glaciers, coastal waterfalls, sheer cliffs and humpback whales from their kayak.
Visiting these regions by private catamaran rather than shared water taxi provides a more personal experience, said Ryan Fisher, Liquid Adventures co-owner.
"We're incredibly excited to offer this experience to people who really want to see the best of Alaska glacier kayaking," said Fisher. "While Aialik Bay is a popular destination for visitors, it is often crowded with other kayakers, boats and cruise ships. The Northwestern Fjord is a favorite among our guides, Alaskans and experienced sea kayakers for its remoteness and rugged beauty. It makes sense to give our customers the flexibility to choose the best glacial landscape to kayak on the day of their trip, which our guides will determine based on the crowds, wildlife and weather."
Liquid Adventures' Aialik/Northwestern Explorer costs $399 per person. For details and booking information, visit www.liquid-adventures.com.
