Florida Power & Light (FPL) has opened a manatee-viewing
center in Palm Beach County.
Officials cut the ribbon for Manatee Lagoon: An FPL
Eco-Discovery Center on Feb. 5.

The visitor center at Manatee Lagoon.
The 16,000-square-foot center sits on five acres and overlooks
the outflow from FPL’s adjacent Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy
Center. The outflow draws herds of manatees in search of warm water during the
cool winter months.
Manatee Lagoon has two levels of observation areas as well as
interactive indoor exhibits.
Admission is free. The visitor center is open 9 to 4, Tuesdays
through Sundays. Go to www.visitmanateelagoon.com for
directions, additional information and to view the museum’s manatee cam.
