Couples who wish to make a Jedi-level commitment to each other on May the Fourth have several "Star Wars" themed wedding options to choose from in Las Vegas.
"Couples today want more than a ceremony; they want a moment that reflects who they are and what they love," said Clark County clerk Lynn Marie Goya, who oversees the city's weddings-related tourism efforts and whose office issued more than 70,000 marriage licenses (including locals) last year.
"Las Vegas has always delivered on that promise, and now we're observing the rise of weddings as shared cultural experiences. 'May the Fourth (Be With You)' is a perfect example of how we can turn a global fandom into a reason to travel, celebrate and get married here," she said.
Among the offerings:
• The Collective Las Vegas offers A New Hope Elopement, a 4:04 p.m. ceremony (a nod to "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope") with a light saber arch, The Force Binds Them unity ritual and a desert backdrop that evokes a galaxy far, far away. It's priced at $1,977 to match the year the original film was released. The Imperial Luxury Wedding experience provides a larger-format celebration for up to 75 guests with a full reception, ceiling projections, Binary Sunset ceremony music and themed cocktails.
• Cactus Collective Weddings has a package available for just four couples, who will be whisked away to a dry lake bed for a one-day elopement inspired by sci-fi romance. The setting includes sculptural white pillars, modern white florals and a vows officiated by a "galactic royal" minister.
• The Little Vegas Chapel's Yoda One for Me package combines costuming, special music and themed photo sessions.
• Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel has a theatrical "Intergalactic Force Package" with Darth Vader officiating. Themed decor and vows, smoke and fog effects, limousine service and multimedia documentation are included.
"Las Vegas removes the friction from wedding planning while adding a level of creativity that's hard to replicate anywhere else," Goya said. "Whether it's a themed celebration, a luxury event or a spontaneous elopement, we continue to exemplify what a destination wedding can be."
