|

A record-setting 41.1 million people visited Las Vegas in 2014, approximately 1.4 million more visitors than the previous record set in 2012, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA).

According to a press release distributed by the LVCVA on Jan. 30, the city also reached a number of other milestones in 2014. The meetings and convention industry reached a six-year high with 5.2 million people attending one of the 22,103 meetings, conventions or trade shows held in the city last year. Average citywide occupancy grew 2.4% to 86.8% for 2014; this is 22% higher than the national average. The average daily room rate increased $6, to nearly $117.

In line with a growing trend of visitors traveling to Las Vegas for more than the casinos, Clark County gross gaming revenue reached $9.6 billion in 2014, a 1.2% decrease from 2013.
