AmaWaterways has been offering its passengers the option to bike for years, and now has partnered with Backroads on several biking-themed river cruises.

After forging a partnership last year, AmaWaterways and Backroads are expanding their alliance to offer Backroads hiking, walking and cycling trips on more than 100 sailings in 2017.

AmaWaterways and Backroads launched a set of cruises on the Danube River last year, which were expanded to around two dozen sailings on the Danube, Rhine, Seine and Douro rivers this year. The more than 100 AmaWaterways sailings that will incorporate Backroads excursions next year will be featured on those same rivers.

The Backroads trips include dedicated trip leaders, custom titanium or electric bikes for passengers to ride, support vans, and itineraries that incorporate cycling, walking and hiking routes for passengers of all abilities.

Backroads passengers will stay in AmaWaterways’ twin-balcony staterooms (cabins that feature a French balcony adjacent to a step-out one), and will also have access to all the normal AmaWaterways inclusions, such as the option to reserve a seating at The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant, and unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner.

The Backroads river cruises should be booked through Backroads.
