AmaWaterways is suspending the start of its European river cruise season until August, co-founder and president Rudi Schreiner said Wednesday.

Many tour operators and cruise lines have been hoping to restart travel on July 1, but that might be too optimistic. Most European borders remain closed because of the Covid-19 pandemic and France is requiring that anyone arriving from outside the EU must self-quarantine for 14 days.

Earlier this week, Intrepid Travel said it would suspend all trips until the end of September.
