AmaWaterways will have a busy 2019, launching two other vessels
besides the AmaMagna, Europe's largest river cruise ship.
The company's three new ships will be the most Ama has
launched in one year since 2002, the year Ama was founded.
The 164-passenger AmaMora will sail the Rhine River. The
staterooms on the upper decks will feature AmaWaterways' twin balcony concept
(a French balcony adjacent to a step-out one).
There will be a heated pool on the sun deck, the Chef's
Table restaurant serving a dinner tasting menu, a massage and hair salon, a fitness
room, a gift shop and a specialty coffee station. A fleet of onboard bicycles will
be available.
The 102-passenger AmaDouro will sail Portugal's Douro River.
The staterooms will range from 161 square feet to 215 square feet, and suites
will be 323 square feet. The AmaDouro will have a swimming pool on the sun
deck, a spa, a fitness room and a gift shop.
The highly anticipated 196-passenger AmaMagna will be almost
twice the width of AmaWaterways' existing vessels, allowing for additional
passengers and amenities onboard. The Danube-bound cruiser will feature larger
staterooms averaging 300 square feet; multiple dining venues, including a
glass-enclosed restaurant; a large spa and gym area; and enhanced evening entertainment.

The average size for an AmaMagna stateroom: 300 square feet.
The company has hinted at the possibility of installing a watersports platform
on the ship, giving guests access to Zodiac boats, canoes and water scooters.
"Research has shown that many ocean cruisers and active
travelers have yet to experience river cruising because they thought the
staterooms were too small, or the dining options and activities too limited. We
are confident that AmaMagna, with the additional space and more diverse onboard
programs will overcome these objections and open up a whole new market for us,"
said Rudi Schreiner, president and co-owner of AmaWaterways.
Also, AmaWaterways will bring its new wellness program aboard
most ships sailing in Europe and expand its popular wine cruises to 60
departures.
Earlier this year, AmaWaterways launched a wellness program
onboard the AmaLyra for its Paris and Normandy sailings. The ship offers four
to six classes daily -- including morning stretches, jogging, cardio, core
strengthening, circuit training and yoga – plus discussion groups with a focus
on healthy eating and relaxation techniques. That program will be rolled out to
most European ships for 2019.
The 2019 wine cruises will be hosted by North America
winemakers, who will guide passengers through Europe's wine regions.
