American Cruise Lines christened its newest ship, the American Encore, on May 12.
The vessel was christened in Lewiston, Idaho, marking the first time the ceremony has been held in the state for a ship. Godmother Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a former U.S. representative, presided over the celebration.
The Encore will sail the Columbia and Snake rivers.
ACL CEO Charles B. Robertson said the new ship represents the company's "aggressive posture to up the game globally."
The American Encore can accommodate up to 180 passengers, with private balconies in all cabins. The vessel also features a four-story atrium in the center and a 1,500-square-foot suite, complete with a wraparound balcony, a separate sleeping and sitting area and a large bathroom with a soaking tub. ACL says it is the largest suite on a river cruise in the world.
Sister ships American Anthem and the American Grace will be launched over the next two years.
The celebration also acknowledged a new dock recently built through a partnership between ACL and the Port of Lewiston.
