American Cruise Lines christened its newest coastal ship, American Legend, in Florida.
The 100-passenger ship was christened in Key West last week while sailing an eight-day Florida Gulf Coast & Keys cruise. American Legend is the fourth ship in the Coastal Cats series. The ship entered service last November.
Key West mayor Danise Henriquez was the ship's godmother and joined American Cruise Lines CEO Charles B. Robertson for the traditional bottle smash on the ship's top deck.
American Legend will cruise the Florida coast in the coming weeks and then do Chesapeake Bay cruises focused on Revolutionary War history. The ship will sail a mix of coastal New England itineraries this summer before sailing the Hudson River this fall and finishing the year with Florida cruises.
The Florida Gulf Coast & Keys cruise starts and ends in St. Petersburg, taking passengers to Marco Island and Punta Gorda. The 11-day American Revolution cruise will sail to and from Washington D.C. The Hudson River cruise will sail during fall foliage season.
