French river cruise line CroisiEurope created a commemorative cruise marking the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entering World War I in 1917.
The itinerary pays homage to the war, and includes a walking through the "Trench of Death" in Diksmuide, Belgium, the site of a treacherous battle fought by the Belgians; a visit to the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 2017, a World War I memorial museum located in Zonnebek, Belgium; a visit to a memorial in Kortrijk, Belgium; and a tour of the underground tunnels used during the war at the Carrire Wellington, a museum in Arras, France.
The cruises will take place on the 96-passenger Victor Hugo, starting on the Belgian coast in Ostend and ending in the French city of Lille.
Prices for the seven-day sailings begin at $1,838 per person, based on double occupancy, with 2017 departures on Sept. 13 and Oct. 3. Each commemorative cruise includes shore excursions described in the itinerary, meals onboard and complimentary drinks with dinner.
