Scenic will remodel all eight of its river cruise vessels
that sail the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers for 2019.
The eight ships, which Scenic refers to as "Space
Ships," are the Scenic Ruby, Pearl, Jasper, Opal, Amber, Crystal, Jade and
Jewel. The ships will get fewer and larger staterooms, two new 520-square-feet
Royal Owners suites, and larger wellness centers that will include a gym,
massage room, hair dresser room and a salt therapy lounge.
On the Scenic Ruby and Scenic Pearl, the capacity will be
reduced from 167 to 161 passengers, and on the other six vessels, the capacity
will be reduced from 169 to 165 passengers. The same number of crew will be
kept onboard all the ships.
The remodels follow the same extensive redesigns of Scenic's
two vessels on France's Rhone and Saone rivers, the Scenic Diamond and Scenic
Emerald, which took place in 2017.
A defining feature of the overhauled vessels will be the
salt lounge, an amenity unique to Scenic, A humidity- and
temperature-controlled room crafted from salt bricks creates a micro-climate of
a natural salt mine, which is said to have curative effects. On each vessel,
the salt lounge will have three lounge chairs separated by light curtains for
privacy, low-level lighting and calming music. Guests on board the ships are
free to use the rooms as they wish, spending up to a recommended 45 minutes in
the environment.
Scenic's river cruise vessels include private butler service
and unlimited complimentary beverages and spirits, including a daily, restocked
minibar. Scenic's upper-deck staterooms feature a drop-down window that
converts into balcony when lowered.
In addition to the main dining room, Scenic vessels also
feature small-group tasting experience Table La Rive, the fine-dining Portobello's
and the more casual River Cafe.
