Belize's international airport will reopen Aug. 15, allowing passengers who prove they have tested negative for Covid-19 to enter the country via a "fast track" lane.
The reopening of Philip Goldson Airport represents the third phase of the country's five-phase reopening plan. Phase three allows for "further travel relaxation and open entry for chartered flights, private aviation and limited reopening of international leisure travel with approved hotels only," according to a statement from Belize's tourism board.
Visitors must download a Belize Health App and complete the required information before departure. Visitors will receive QR codes with unique ID numbers, which will be used for contact tracing during their stay.
Visitors are encouraged to take a Covid-19 test before departure; those who have tested negative for Covid-19 within 72 hours of arrival will be allowed immediate entry with no quarantine.
Those who do not provide a negative Covid-19 test upon arrival can be tested at the airport via rapid test; results will be received in 15 to 20 minutes. Passengers who test positive will be placed in mandatory quarantine for a minimum of 14 days at their own expense.
