FORT WORTH, Texas -- American Airlines recently pulled the
plates of KNR Travel, a San Francisco agency, for hidden-city
ticketing.
American provided detailed documentation showing the city pairs,
according to Bill Kimicata of KNR, who said the carrier took the
action "without warning and without negotiations."
Kimicata acknowledged that KNR had engaged in hidden-city
ticketing "when our clients wanted it."
A spokesman for the carrier said he was not familiar with the
particulars of the case but "negotiation is not the issue; when you
get to that level of disciplinary action, it's usually because
there is a high level of this kind of activity."
Kimicata said, "What constitutes a pattern? When you don't have
an override program with American and you are not a big
agency?"
American has warned in the past that it has the technology to
track tariff violations and in recent months has pulled the plates
of several agencies that it said broke its rules.
