MONTREAL -- Zip. That's what Air Canada is calling its new low-fare
subsidiary based in western Canada, the airline revealed April 19.
The Calgary-based operation will fly 737s on primarily
short-haul routes with connections to Air Canada's worldwide
network, on routes that eventually will include U.S. points.
The service will start this summer.
With the addition of Zip, Air Canada now has five operations.
The others are: its mainline service; Air Canada Jazz as its
regional carrier; Tango by Air Canada as a low-fare, no-frills
service for point-to-point operations that are not designed to
connect to the Air Canada network; and Air Canada Jetz as its
specialized charter service for corporate clients and sports
teams.
