Airfares decline 3.6% in May

Airfares decline 3.6% in May

When adjusted for seasonality, U.S. airfares declined 3.6% in May from the month prior, according to Consumer Price Index data released by the Department of Labor.  

The drop is the largest since airfares fell 8.1% between last June and last July. 

May airfares were also down 5.9% from May 2023.
