Airfares have fallen in 2015

Average fares for flights originating from North America have fallen this year, Expedia said in a report using data culled from ARC.

For the first half the year, ticket prices for flights departing from North America and Europe are down 2% from a year earlier. Ticket prices from Asia-Pacific have dropped 7%.

U.S.-Dubai prices are down 15%, and U.S.-Brazil prices have dropped 17%.

Meanwhile, the strong dollar is spurring Americans taking trips abroad to lengthen their stays. Economy-class trips forecasted for August will be 6% longer than a year earlier, Expedia said.
