Alaska Airlines will pull out of Dallas Love Field. The carrier's last flight from the Dallas area's second-largest airport will be on May 14.
After that, Alaska operations in the Dallas metropolitan area will be consolidated at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, the airline said in a statement.
"DFW is centrally located with easy access to all points across the Dallas metroplex and allows our guests to connect beyond Dallas to cities in the Midwest and along the East Coast with our codeshare partner American Airlines," Alaska said.
Alaska inherited its Love Field flying from Virgin America when it bought Virgin in 2016 and has mostly flown from there to Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco, Cirium flight schedule data shows. Since February of last year, Seattle has been its lone destination from the airport. Alaska currently flies Love Field-Seattle five times per week.
Alaska Airlines' departure leaves Love Field with only Southwest and Delta as airline tenants.
Southwest, which has its corporate offices just outside of Love Field, dominates the airport, flying to 63 destinations from there this month, according to Cirium. Delta flies only to Atlanta from Love Field, with four or five frequencies daily.
