Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members can now earn miles on flights operated by Taiwanese carrier Starlux.

In addition, Mileage Plan redemption on Starlux flights will become available sometime this summer.

The partnership launch coincided with Starlux's first U.S. flight, connecting Los Angeles with Taipei. The partnership also applies to Starlux flights onward from Taipei to 16 additional Asian destinations.

Starlux describes itself as a luxury airline. Its Airbus A350-900 aircraft feature four first-class suites, 26 business-class suites, 36 premium economy seats and 240 economy seats.

When redemptions on Starlux become available to Mileage Plan members this summer, they will start at 20,000 miles for economy, 40,000 for premium economy and 60,000 for business class for a limited time, Alaska said.
