American Airlines and Ireland's Aer Lingus have launched a codeshare agreement.
Beginning Jan. 11, American started placing its code on Aer Lingus flights between London Heathrow and Dublin as well as on flights from Dublin to Birmingham and Manchester, England; London's Gatwick Airport; and to Amsterdam.
Additional codeshare flights include Heathrow to Cork and Shannon in Ireland, and to Belfast in Northern Ireland.
Aer Lingus customers are able to book codeshare travel on American flights from Chicago O'Hare to Albuquerque, N.M.; Nashville; Dallas/Fort Worth; Los Angeles; Seattle; San Francisco; San Jose, Calif.; and Tucson, Ariz.
The airlines plan a further expansion of their codeshare partnership "in the near future."
Aer Lingus is part of International Airlines Group (IAG). The U.S. Department of Transportation in December 2020 approved Aer Lingus to join the Oneworld transatlantic joint venture, which includes American as well as IAG carriers British Airways, Iberia and Finnair.
