American Airlines will designate its Chicago O'Hare-New York
LaGuardia service as an American Shuttle route, beginning April 4.
The designation won't result in a schedule change, as the
carrier is currently flying a shuttle schedule between O'Hare and LaGuardia
with 15 daily frequencies that depart on a mostly hourly basis.
But as a shuttle, service changes will be made to cater to
the business market.
Fliers between O'Hare and LaGuardia will use dedicated
check-in kiosks and desks and will enjoy dedicated gates located close to the
security checkpoints to facilitate faster travel, said American spokeswoman
Nichelle Tait.
Passengers will be able to check bags up to 25 minutes
before the departure time as opposed to American's usual policy of 35 minutes. And,
main cabin passengers will receive complimentary beer and wine on the flight.
O'Hare-LaGuardia will join LaGuardia-Boston,
LaGuardia-Washington Reagan and Boston-Washington Reagan as an American Shuttle
route.
