Cayman Airways, the national flag carrier
of the Cayman Islands, has launched a brand enhancement campaign
that includes new livery on its 737-300 aircraft while retaining
the trademark Sir Turtle logo as part of the brand.
The first plane
with the new livery debuted earlier this month and features Sir
Turtle up toward the nose of the plane near the passenger door while the coat of arms of the Cayman
Islands flies high on the tail of the aircraft in the national flag
colors of blue, green, yellow and red.
At the rollout of
the first plane, Charles Clifford, Cayman Islands minister of
tourism, said that the Cayman Airways brand "is symbolic of all our
people and our three islands and is best represented in our flag
and our coat of arms."
The goal of the
rebranding campaign is "to celebrate the uniqueness of our islands,
our people, our culture and our heritage and to connect that to
Cayman Airways, our symbol of national pride and one of our primary
ambassadors," according to Clifford.
Cayman Airways
chairperson Angelyn Hernandez said that the carrier sought to
anchor its aircraft "with something which identified our fleet with
the Cayman Islands." Meanwhile, airline CEO Patrick Strasburger
said that the aircraft would have been repainted as part of the
general maintenance schedule, and the opportunity was taken to give
the aircraft a new look and feel at this time.
Over the next year,
other aircraft will get their new identity as they go in for the
industry-mandated checkups.
Other aspects of
the brand enhancement campaign, such as uniforms, stationary,
business cards, ticket counters, Web sites, advertisements,
vehicles and signage, will be gradually updated according to
replenishment needs.
