Delta has begun retrofitting its remaining older generation Boeing 737-800s.

The first of the retrofitted planes entered service last weekend. Delta has 77 737-800s NGs in its fleet, according to Planespotters.net.

The updated aircraft will be equipped with Delta's newest first-class seat, which the airline debuted with the introduction of its Airbus A321neo aircraft in spring 2022. Among other features, those seats have fixed side panels around the headrest for privacy. They also have larger seatback screens and more stowage than the first-class seats they'll replace.

Retrofitted economy cabins will include enlarged seatback entertainment screens.

Lavatories will also be updated with touchless components.

"We are committed to maintaining an elevated and premium customer experience across all touchpoints of the travel journey -- this includes making improvements to our aircraft interiors as part of ongoing, planned retrofits," Delta said in an emailed statement.
