Egypt and Morocco are no longer subject to the U.S. laptop
ban.
EgyptAir announced Wednesday that its passengers can once
again bring laptops and tablets aboard flights from Cairo to New York -- its
lone U.S. route.
Royal Air Maroc said the ban was lifted for its passengers
beginning Thursday. The carrier serves the U.S. with flights from Casablanca to
New York and Washington Dulles.
Only Saudi Arabia, whose national carrier Saudia serves the
U.S. from Riyadh and Jeddah, is still subject to the U.S. laptop ban, which the
Department of Homeland Security put in place in late March. The United Arab
Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Jordan and Kuwait were removed from the ban over the
past two weeks.
Late last month, the DHS said that airports meeting enhanced
security requirements would no longer be subject to the ban, which it put in
place to counter concerns about terrorist's turning laptops into bombs.
The United Kingdom's ban on carry-on electronics on flights
from Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia to Great Britain
remains in effect.
