Three April 24 flights embarking from California will be the
last to operate under the Virgin America brand.
The following day, Alaska Air Group will formally integrate
the Virgin American flight network into the Alaska brand.
Virgin America flights 1182 from San Francisco to Newark and
1948 from San Francisco to Los Angeles are both scheduled for departure at 9:30
p.m. that Tuesday night. They'll be the brand's last revenue flights, but
Alaska has also scheduled a commemorative 9:35 p.m. Los Angeles-San Francisco
flight that night for employees who helped launch Virgin America a decade ago.
Beginning April 25, Alaska Air Group will have just one
reservation system, one mobile app and one website. In addition, all gates,
ticket counters, check-in areas and baggage-claim locations will be
Alaska-branded, though fliers will still see the Virgin America livery on
aircraft until retrofits are completed.
Alaska Air Group acquired Virgin America for $2.6 billion in
December 2016.
