Following damage assessments and cleanup from Hurricane Milton, the Tampa and Orlando airports will reopen on the morning of Friday, Oct. 11.
Orlando International will accommodate a few arrivals on Thursday evening and fully reopen on Friday. Orlando Sanford will reopen Friday.
Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm Wednesday night on Siesta Key, just south of Sarasota. More than 2,200 U.S. flights have been canceled Thursday, according to FlightAware.
Palm Beach Airport reopened on Thursday afternoon. Fort Myers Airport said that it would remain closed throughout the day, with a reopening planned for Friday.
Sarasota Airport, which is located just 12 miles north of where Milton made landfall, announced early Thursday afternoon that it would remain closed through Friday while conditions are assessed and cleanup is undertaken.
Melbourne Airport, which lies on the central east coast of Florida, said it expects to reopen Friday morning despite sustaining roof damage. An approximately 30-by-40-foot section of the ceiling collapsed overnight, according to Florida Today.
