Interjet takes up Aero California's Mexico City routes

Mexican no-frills airline Interjet has reportedly purchased the rights of troubled low-cost carrier Aero California to operate from Mexico City Airport.

According to Dow Jones, Interjet Chairman Miguel Aleman said the company is ordering more planes in an effort to operate from Mexico City.

Interjet currently serves Mexico City via the nearby Toluca Airport.

Mexico's transportation department grounded Aero California last month for failing to pay back fees for Mexican fly rights totaling some $26 million.
