A new app promises to automatically check users into flights
on any airline that offers online check-in.
The app, called AirlineCheckins, is available for Apple and
Android smartphones. Its programming interface can be incorporated into
corporate travel management systems.
AirlineCheckins was developed by Lufthansa Group's
innovation unit.
"Once you sign up for the service, you will never have
to worry about checking in again," Lufthansa said in a statement. "With
the new app, airline passengers can now monitor the check-in status and manage
their flights at all times."
Personal information, including seating preferences and
frequent flyer programs, can all be updated in the app.
"The app also has an alert feature that automatically
notifies you of the current flight status and any gate changes. As the app
continues to evolve, users will soon be able to have access to airport lounges
and obtain free Wi-Fi access onboard," Lufthansa said.
