The new Terminal 3 at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport had its first day of full international flight operations on Wednesday.

The terminal doubles the airport’s capacity.

American Airlines, one of the carriers making the move from Terminal 2, said the new facility has dedicated U.S. departure gates.

Domestic flights are scheduled to begin operating from the new terminal on Aug. 27, said American, enabling connecting passengers to make smoother transfers.

Starting in mid-August, premium passengers departing on American will be able to use Kingfisher Airlines’ new lounge. Kingfisher is in the implementation stage of becoming a Oneworld alliance member.
