Beginning Oct. 26, SeaPort Airlines will operate flights to four Arkansas cities from Memphis under the Department of Transportation's Essential Air Service program.

Service will be from a private terminal at Memphis Airport to Hot Springs, El Dorado, Harrison and Jonesboro, Ark., all of which have not had scheduled air service in more than a year.

Flights, aboard six-, eight- or nine-passenger Pilatus PC-12s, will be three times a day except Saturdays. Introductory fares start at $29 each way to Jonesboro and $49 for the other cities.

The Essential Air Service program began in 1978 as a way of guaranteeing service to smaller communities following deregulation.

SeaPort, launched in June 2008, offers scheduled flights between Portland, Ore., and Seattle, as well as Pendleton, Newport and Astoria, Ore.
