Spirit Airlines will add five additional routes from Milwaukee this fall, including Cancun, its first international route from Brew Town.
Beginning Nov. 17, the discount carrier will fly daily between Milwaukee and Fort Lauderdale, Phoenix, Tampa and Fort Myers, Fla. Thrice-weekly service to Cancun will launch Dec. 23.
Spirit made the route announcements in conjunction with its initial launch of Milwaukee service Thursday. The carrier's three initial Milwaukee routes, to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Orlando, are now operating daily.
Spirit will compete against Southwest and American on the Milwaukee-Phoenix route, according to Cirium flight schedule data. The discount carrier will compete against Southwest on Milwaukee to Cancun, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers and Tampa.
