MENLO PARK, Calif. -- TWA tapped GetThere.com, formerly known as the Internet
Travel Network, to provide Internet travel booking services for the
airline's Web site, at www.twa.com.
The enhanced site, projected to launch during the summer, will
use GetThere's FlightRez system. The technology enables customers
to link to GetThere's database, where they can book hotels and car
rentals as well as air tickets.
TWA projected that, later this year, members of the company's
frequent flyer program, Aviators, will be able to track and redeem
miles through the site. GetThere's other airline customers include
British Airways, Northwest, America West and United. The firm also
provides the booking engine for the Star Alliance.
In an unrelated move, GetThere.com signed an agreement with eSeated.com to
give business travelers the opportunity to make restaurant
reservations when booking travel through their company's
intranet.
The company's Global Manager technology already handles the
travel booking side of things, complete with travel policy
enforcement, but the partnership with eSeated means travelers can
make dining reservations on line.
Boston-based eSeated uses the Internet to link restaurants to
corporations and provides instant reservations as well as
notifications of special offers.
